TAP Cabin Crew Strike Cancelled

An agreement has been reached between the two sides and the planned strike action has been cancelled.

Passengers using Portugal´s Airline TAP may well experience serious flight delays and disruptions if the planned strike by the cabin crew union SNPVAC goes ahead.
The Portuguese state-owned Airline highlighted the severe repercussions that such action could produce and that it is financially incapable of carrying the losses a strike of this magnitude would cause.
The 10 day strike would directly affect about 350,000 passengers and the cancellation of approximately 1500 flights.
Strike action is planned for the following days:
18th, 19th, 20th, 25th and 26th June 2011
1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th July 2011

Portugal Trains - Normal Service Resumes..

Currently, an agreement has been reached and the overtime ban has been lifted, therefore trains and services have returned to "normal".

As from Saturday, 28th May 2011, a total ban on overtime has begun which involves all Train Drivers, Conductors and Ticket Staff.
A spokesman for the
company said that this action will obviously cause delays and
cancellations to some trains and services.
The strikes were called for by the three main national railway unions - the SNTSF, SMAQ and SFRCI. The disruption to services is set to continue until the 30th June 2011.

The government Minster for Transport and the president of CP held a meeting with the rail Unions today in a bid to resolve the dispute.
Unfortunately neither side could reach an agreement and the strike action will continue as proposed.

Iceland´s Grímsvötn Volcano Eruption,
The Volcanic Ash Cloud
And The Resulting Air Travel Disruptions.

An eruption of Iceland´s Grímsvötn volcano began at approximately 17:30 UTC on Saturday May 21st 2011.
The volcanic ash clouds are being closely monitored and some disruption to European Air Traffic is to be expected in the next few days/weeks.
Grímsvötn is Iceland's most frequently erupting volcano. The last eruption of Grímsvötn occurred in November 2004.
Latest Update Information:
There are still a few limited areas of volcanic ash concentrations across Europe. However, these are expected to have very little or no impact on European air traffic in the coming 48 hours.
No airspace is currently closed due to volcanic ash.
In total, around 900 flights were cancelled throughout Europe between Monday 23rd May and Wednesday 25th May out of a total of 90,000 expected flights.

Faro Airport
Flights temporarily suspended
Fights in and out of Faro airport was temporarily suspended on Wednesday 18th May, for approximately 2 hours due to heavy rain. 16 Aircraft were affected with 8 incoming flights diverted to Lisbon and the Spanish airports of Seville and Malaga. There was also a delayed departure time for 8 flights.
The airport resumed activities at midday and is once again fully operational.
